France has once again stood by Lebanon — not out of loyalty, though that would be reason enough, not out of deep friendship, though that too would suffice, but because Lebanon's struggle today is just. This was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron.

"This is a struggle against all those who threaten the security of Lebanon or its neighbors. No one here is justifying attacks or terrorist movements. But the message is this: Lebanon must be able to resolve its own problems, and nothing can justify the violation of its territorial integrity and sovereignty.

How can Europeans who defend the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Europe be respected if we do not defend them for Lebanon or other countries? There are no double standards in international law — they simply do not exist.

In these difficult times, I wish to once again express my support for Lebanon. Everything possible must be done to stop the bombardments, to end the ongoing ground operation, and to restore Lebanon's territorial integrity. Only within this framework can peace be built, and only within this framework can the security of all in the region be guaranteed.

No occupation, no form of colonization — here, on the West Bank, or anywhere else — can guarantee anyone's security. And I have certainly not forgotten Gaza. The fact that part of the international community has diverted its attention away from Gaza does not mean we cannot once again stress the importance of fully restoring humanitarian aid to Gaza and, above all, continuing the only path to peace: political recognition — the path chosen by France and, I hope, one that the international community will fully embrace.

Count on France's support and on the unshakeable friendship that binds France and Lebanon," Macron stated.
