Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan received the newly appointed head of the European Union Observer Mission, Satu Koivu, the Presidential Office reported.

The president congratulated Koivu on assuming her responsible position and wished her success, emphasizing that the mission’s work is important for ensuring stability and security in Armenia’s border regions.

He noted that the work carried out over the past four years has significantly helped reduce tensions and foster a peaceful environment. President Khachaturyan also expressed his readiness to provide support to the mission to ensure its effective functioning.

Satu Koivu expressed gratitude for the reception and trust, stating that it is a great honor to lead the mission during such a critical period. She emphasized her commitment to continuing all efforts to ensure the mission’s effectiveness and contribute to strengthening peace in the region.

During the meeting, both sides highlighted the importance of the EU Observer Mission for Armenia during a challenging period, in the context of steps being taken to establish peace in the region.

It was also noted that the mission’s work is significant for Armenian citizens, who highly value its role in ensuring security and stability in border communities. The necessity of completing the ongoing peace process was also emphasized.
