The source of legitimacy of the legal system is the constitution, and the legitimacy of the constitution is the people. But this chain is broken in Armenia, as the official results of referendums are massively questioned, which leads to a lack of justice and trust, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during a Facebook live broadcast.

According to him, the only way out of this situation in Armenia is to adopt a new constitution by the will of the people, and this will enable the legal system in the country to receive full legitimacy.

As per Pashinyan, the new constitution of Armenia shall introduce the jury system, which will become an expression of the connection between the people and justice.

In addition, it is planned to continue the judicial reforms and the development of democratic institutions in Armenia.

Pashinyan said that a new constitution for Armenia is necessary because there is a certain tension between the state and society in the country. And one of the reasons for this is that some Armenian citizens do not feel involved in the formation of the legal order in the country.
