YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan no longer wants to be in the Government and, instead, wants to return to lawmaking, that is, to become a National Assembly (NA) MP, but not a rank-and-file deputy, Hraparak daily writes.

“According to some information, Ashotyan wishes to assume the position of the Chairman of the parliamentary [Standing] Committee on European Integration. But, most likely, Ashotyan will not be satisfied with such small post, and he could assume the position of NA Speaker. According to well-informed sources, this is also why Ashotyan not only was included in [the ruling coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia] RPA Executive Body, but also became RPA Vice Chairman. The current NA Speaker Samvel Nikoyan, who is a veteran RPA, is not RPA Vice Chairman,” Hraparak writes.
