The “Sing for Democracy” NGO is planning on holding a song contest in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku on April 16.

Azerbaijani and foreign singers will perform songs devoted to democracy, human rights, freedoms, and similar topics, the Azerbaijani media report.

The objective of the “Sing for Democracy” campaign is to create certain “leverage” against the Eurovision 2012 Song Contest, which will be held in Baku next month, by showing that the Contest will be held in a country where basic human rights are not respected.
