YEREVAN. – The opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) members, activists, and representatives of political initiatives have organized a protest action in front of the Presidential Residence on Wednesday to defend the ANC four activists, who were sentenced from 2 up to 6 years in prison.

The protesters stated the activists were sentenced illegally demanding that activists should be set free, Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent reports from the site.

The protest participants demand to justify the four opposition ANC activists, including Artak Karapetyan, Davit Kiramijyan, Tigran Arakelyan and Sargis Gevorgyan and to set free Tigran Arakelyan. In addition, it demands that criminal cases instigated against other ANC activists must be closed.

To note, the court cast the verdict for the four opposition activists on July 20. The court sentenced Arakelyan for 6, Karapetyan for 3, Gevorgyan and Kiramijyan for 2 years of imprisonment.
