YEREVAN. – Next rally of the supporters of opposition Heritage Party Chairman Raffi Hovannisian—who was declared runner-up, with 37 percent, to the winner, incumbent President Sargsyan during the presidential election on February 18, but who claims to be the real winner in the vote—kicked off Sunday at capital city Yerevan’s Liberty Square. The event, however, started later than expected due to a power outage. To note, Yerevan Municipality had not sanctioned this rally.

Solely Hovannisian addressed those present, and he informed that they will hold a Municipality-sanctioned rally on February 28, at 5pm, again at Liberty Square.

The presidential candidate noted that he respects all who respect the law. Also, he addressed the Police and asked them not to spread fear, clandestinely record his supporters on video camera, and announce that his rallies are unlawful.

Hovannisian informed that the Central Electoral Commission shall announce the final election results on Monday, and added that, starting from February 26, he will take his “revolution of greetings” on to every city and village in the country.

Presenting the schedule of his forthcoming meetings with the people, Hovannisian noted that he respects the Police, and therefore he ended Sunday’s rally.
