YEREVAN. – In connection with the 98th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) Party commenced a march toward capital city Yerevan’s Genocide Memorial. But First President, ANC Chairman Levon Ter-Petrosyan is not among the participants in the walk, Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter informs.    

Those taking part in the march, however, said Ter-Petrosyan probably will join them at Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex nearby the memorial and will head toward the monument with them from there.  

Reflecting on the meaning of this day, ANC MP Gagik Jhangiryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the Armenian-Turkish protocols halted the process of international recognition of the Armenian Genocide.    

In his turn, Yerevan former Mayor Vahagn Khachatryan, who heads the ANC list for the forthcoming Yerevan Council election, noted that, “We need to accept the Genocide as a fact and not make it become a matter of dispute.”
