YEREVAN. – The Yerevan-Khor Virap cycling marathon, titled “Toward the Sources of our Faith,” got underway Saturday from Republic Square in Armenia’s capital city Yerevan.  

The event is an initiative of the Armenian Federation of Amateur Cycling and Bicycle Tourism. 

Over fifty cyclists headed toward the Khor Virap Monastery, which is located in the Ararat plain near the border with Turkey, where they will attend a Holy Mass and subsequently return to Yerevan.   

Federation President Arman Antonyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the objective of this pilgrimage is to promote cycling in Armenia as a sport and to mark the 22nd anniversary of the country’s independence.
