Leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, promised the Christians of Syria that he will ensure their safety, but solely if they pay taxes and do not display Christian worship.

But Primate of the Diocese of Damascus of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Bishop Armash Nalbandian, is sure that the ISIS militants will not leave Syria’s Christian population alone, even if someone from the country’s Christian Church community were to agree to carry out Al-Baghdadi’s demands, reported LifeNews Russian news website and TV.

Bishop Nalbandian also noted that even though the terrorists had made many promises over the course of the four years of war, they have fulfilled none of these promises.

“We have heard their announcements in social networking websites; if people agree to live by their rules, their lives will be spared,” added Primate of the Diocese of Damascus of the Armenian Apostolic Church. “But (…) the real picture is that they are destroying everything.”
