Famous Russian conductor Valery Gergiev is performing a concert in the ruins of Palmyra in Syria that was liberated from the ISIS militants earlier this year.

The concert of the symphonic orchestra is dedicated to the memory of Alexander Prokhorenko, a Russian officer who was killed during the Palmyra battle, RT reported.

In late March the Syrian army commanders officially announced liberating Palmyra from ISIS militants supported by the national aviation and Russian air forces. The ancient ruins of Palmyra is one of six UNESCO World Heritage sites in Syria; the city has been under control of terrorists since last May.
