The visit of the Tajik President to Armenia is scheduled for the fall, said the Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian at a joint press conference with the Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Aslov. According to him , he and Aslov thoroughly discussed the details of the Tajik President’s visit to Armenia in fall as well as the multiple issues related to the Armenian-Tajik relations.
During the talks the sides touched upon the Armenian-Tajik intergovernmental commission formed in 2004 and stressed the necessity to strengthen the activities of the commission. In that regard, the parties agreed to convene the next session in the near future. Nalbandian and Aslov exchanged views on the ways of promoting economic cooperation between Armenia and Tajikistan. In that context, the sectors of light industry, high technology, jewelry, and tourism have been considered as promising.
The heads of the foreign ministries of Armenia and Tajikistan discussed the issues of mutual cooperation within the frameworks of the UN, OSCE, and CIS. Aslov expressed a gratitude to the UN Economic and Social Council to endorse the candidacy of Tajikistan in the elections. After the meeting, the ministers signed a program of counseling (2016-2018) between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Tajikistan.
