The US can and should play a bigger role in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process, former US Ambassador to Georgia, analyst Kenneth Yalowitz, told the Voice of America Armenian service.

He expressed a view that even though a greater American and European engagement in the Karabakh issue very important, it is also important that the leaders of Armenian and Azerbaijani societies prepare their people for peace.

In Yalowitz’s words, Russia plays a negative role by arming both sides. But the West and Russia must come to an agreement and try to promote real talks between the parties, so that the foundations for a peaceful settlement are laid.
