I think the time will come when the Turkish authorities will react to the recognition of the Armenian genocide very easily, said President Serzh Sargsyan to the Arabic Al Mayadeen TV.

He noted that 5-7-10 years ago the reaction in Turkey was completely different from today. "10 years ago no one could imagine that on April 24 in Istanbul or Ankara , the Turks can go out the streets and express solidarity with the Armenians. Now there are those facts. What I am saying is that there will come the time when Turkey will recognize the genocide , " he said.

Serzh Sargsyan highly appreciated the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the Bundestag , noting that the German example is very powerful. " Germany in fact said to Turkey , do as I have done , and you will not lose . The Germans recognized the Holocaust, but did not lose. They faced their history very soberly and came out of it as winners. Their history does not put pressure on them, whereas the Turks are now under pressure of their history . All peoples value their history , but there are leaders and authorities, who lead their peoples in a wrong way. And, finally , when peoples evaluate the  reality soberly and objectively, that pressure disappears.

What the Turks are saying today? They say that the Turkish people are the people who are not able to commit a genocide. However, we do not blame the Turkish people, we accuse then authorities, who put the whole system to implement the Genocide of Armenians. Today , we do not blame the Turkish people as well, we condemn those who deny the Armenian genocide. No one have ever heard bitter words from me against the Turkish people , " he said.

He stressed that the recognition of the Genocide has no Christian flavor. Genocides were recognized not only by people or states who profess Christianity. " Here we talk about not being a Christian , but about being a humanist  who condemns that crime against humanity. In some issue our neighbors try to attach a religious quality depending on the audience. I do not think that in the Ottoman Empire suffered only Armenians or Christians. "
