YEREVAN. – The Government of Armenia will be allocating 208 million drams (approx. 400 thousand euros) to obtain new equipment to be used during elections in the country.

The respective decision was made at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting.

This amount will be transferred from the government reserve fund to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

“The donor organizations are funding the purchase of equipment for the elections,” stated Government Chief of Staff-Minister Davit Harutyunyan. “The Government of Armenia agreed to participate in the co-funding, and which we are providing.”

Pursuant to the amendments that are made in the Electoral Code of the country, live video streaming shall be conducted on election day, at the polling stations and their entrances.

The parliamentary election in Armenia will be conducted in April 2017.
