YEREVAN. – Yelk (Way Out) opposition alliance of Armenia on Wednesday marched toward Alexander Myasnikyan Statue, in capital city Yerevan, on the ninth anniversary of the March 1 tragedy.

The top three names on Yelk’s list for the upcoming parliamentary election—namely, Edmon Marukyan, Aram Sargsyan, and Nikol Pashinyan—as well as several other representatives of this bloc took part in this march, the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter informed from on location.

Sargsyan told reporters that it is not difficult to find those that are accountable for this tragedy, and that solely a respective wish is needed.

Tragic events took place nine years ago on this day in downtown Yerevan. The law enforcement used firearms against demonstrators in the vicinity of the aforesaid statue. As a result, ten people—including two policemen—were killed, and about 200 others were injured.
