YEREVAN. – What is happening today is an interference with the activities of the National Assembly by the head of the governemnt, Vice Speaker of the National Assembly Eduard Sharmazanov told reporters on Tuesday.

“No one said the extraordinary elections will not be held. Yesterday the head of our faction negotiated with the prime minister who announced that the second round of talks is expected, but what is happening today is the direct interference with the activities of the National Assembly by the head of the government,” Sharmazanov said.

Speaking about a bill, Sharmazanov said that the parliament is an independent body and MPs are free to vote in accordance with their conscience and beliefs.

“This is just one of the aims to keep the National Assembly from being pressured by anyone during the vote. “

The extraordinary meeting of the parliament ended 40 minutes ago, but the deputies remain in the building because of a protest action being held in front of the National Assembly.
