YEREVAN. – Vagharshapat (Etchmiadzin) police had received reports that two foreigner brothers who are wanted by Iranian and Armenian law enforcement agencies were in the city.

As a result, these 39- and 51-year-old men were detected Monday near the Vagharshapat central square and taken to a police station where they were detained, Armenia Police informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The younger brother was wanted by Iranian law enforcement on charges of corruption, and a pretrial measure of custody had been ordered for him. He was taken to the detention center of Vagharshapat police.

The elder brother was wanted by Armenian law enforcement on charges of large-scale fraud, large-scale embezzlement or misuse, and intentional damage or destruction of property, and a pretrial measure of custody had been ordered for him. He was taken to Armavir Penitentiary.

The circumstances behind these incidents are being ascertained.

An investigation is underway.
