·       Former Yerevan police chief was killed in a tragic accident in Russia on Thursday.

Major General Ashot Karapetyan was killed after a building collapsed as a result of an explosion caused by a gas leak, shamshyan.com reported.

·       The CSTO states’ leaders have approved the representative of Belarus, Stanislav Zas, to the post of Secretary General of the organization since January 1, 2020, said acting Secretary General of the organization Valery Semerikov at the CSTO summit in Bishkek as the CSTO member states’ leaders arrived at the Ala-Archa state residence.

Putin, in his turn, noted that Russia, as a CSTO member, will ensure continuity in the organization’s activities.

Later, leaders have signed 15 documents during a summit.

The CSTO meeting is being held in Bishkek with the participation of Armenian, Kyrgyz, Belarusian, Kazakh, Russian, Tajik leaders as well as CSTO Acting Secretary General Valery Semerikov.

·       The Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Armenian ex-president Robert Kocharyan have friendly relations, while communication with PM Nikol Pashinyan is constructive, said Russian president’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.

“I can tell you something: during his last visit, Putin met the wife of the second president,” he noted.

According to Peskov, meanwhile, Pashinyan often hold talks with the Russian president.

“They have established working constructive relationships. Relations are developing well, as it should be between our two countries,” he added.

·       Protests were going on in front of the Armenian Government building on Thursday.

The mothers of soldiers who have died in time of peace are also outside the government building. They demand that cases of their children should be properly investigated.

Margarita Khachatryan, President of the “Soldier's Mother” NGO, notes that they have raised the issues of 6,646 victims, and most of their parents are on the verge of retirement.

·       The remains of an early female warrior were found in the north of Armenia, International Journal of Osteoarchaeology reported.

The remains unearthed in Tomb N 17 belonged to a woman who seemed to live as a professional warrior and was buried as an individual of rank, the results of the excavations show. The archeologists suggested that she died in battle around 2,600 years ago. The researchers led by Anahit Khudaverdyan discovered the remains in Bover I necropolis in Lori province.
