The CSTO member states leaders have approved the representative of Belarus, Stanislav Zas, to the post of Secretary General of the organization since January 1, 2020, said acting Secretary General of the organization Valery Semerikov at the summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in Bishkek.

According to Semerikov, the chairmanship of the organization passes to Belarus in accordance with the approved CSTO rules - when the countries whose representatives head the bloc are replaced in alphabetical order, RIA Novosti reported.

The CSTO meeting is taking place in Bishkek.
