They’re torturing my son. This is what citizen of Gyumri Gaiane Poleyan, who has launched a sit-in in front of the government building, told Armenian News-NEWS.am today. According to her, the reason for her sit-in is the health condition of her son, Gor Poleyan, who is at the Hospital for Convicts.
“My son spent seven years of his life in prison and has various diseases, including diabetes,” Gaiane Poleyan said.
According to her, this year, her son was prematurely released by the first instance court of Shirak Province, but after being in liberty for eight months, the Criminal Court of Appeal granted the appeal of the Prosecutor General’s Office and detained her son again.
Poleyan said a special medical commission had affirmed that her son’s diseases were incompatible with detention, but after a couple of trials, the court rejected the motion for release from custody this morning. After receiving the news, Poleyan came to the government building, transmitted a letter and started her sit-in.
“I have sent a letter to the government and started a sit-in. I have also addressed the Office of the Human Rights Defender and the Ministry of Justice, but they tell me they’re not entitled to interfere in court procedures,” the convict’s mother said.
