YEREVAN. – The goal of Bright Armenia party is to become a competitive political unit, to offer alternatives and to ensure the system of counterbalance, chairman of the party Edmon Marukyan said.

“But Serzh Sargsyan’s legacy hinders this. And we have been fighting for changes since January. Democracy cannot be at an emotional level, it should be strengthened by institutions,” he said in his speech during the 4th congress of the party.

Marukyan said their long-term goal is to come to the power by democratic election, and they need to do much in terms of formation of a new political culture and spreading new ideas.

Dark and reactionary ideological trends must be replaced by advanced ideas, as Armenia is a state of the European values.

“These times of transition will pass, everything will be in its place. Time will force out political criminals and fake opponents, and we – the real opposition – will achieve our goal,” he emphasized.
