In this period, the authorities have done their best to make sure the situation in the Constitutional Court doesn’t grow serious. This is what head of the My Step faction of the National Assembly of Armenia Lilit Makunts told reporters today.

“The authorities did everything in observance of the letters of laws and the Constitution. The Constitutional Court isn’t legitimate, and citizens of Armenia have set the objective for the parliament to solve the issue. In this regard, the My Step faction finds it necessary to convene a special session to raise the issues that I mentioned and solve them,” she stated.

She doesn’t accept the fact that President of the Constitutional Court Hrayr Tovmasyan has provided political commentaries.

“Hrayr Tovmasyan, who is performing the duties of president of the Constitutional Court, is making political statements while being the president of the Constitutional Court. Recently, there was a TV report showing how second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan’s lawyer Aram Orbelyan has visited the Constitutional Court several times. Hrayr Tovmasyan presents himself as the head of the judiciary, but this isn’t the case. This goes to show that Hrayr Tovmasyan has ambitions to usurp the judiciary,” she said.
