Today Artur Muradyan, who battled for his life for nearly ten days after being heavily injured at a maintenance station of one of the military units of the Armenian army stationed in the northeastern direction (Tavush Province of Armenia) on July 14 and died at the military hospital on July 22, would have turned 19.

Muradyan’s parents and relatives visited Yerablur Military Pantheon where Artur is buried.

Vahram Petrosyan, one of the relatives, remembers Artur as a modest boy. “Artur was very patriotic. Although he would keep silent, people would get to know him when they started talking to him. One time I asked him why he had chosen to become a Turkologist, and he told me he wanted to understand why the Turks hate Armenians so much,” Petrosyan said and recalled that Artur was very modest and silent when he was being seen off to the army, but he had a smile on his face.

Artur Muradyan was from a district of Yerevan and had been serving in the army for six months. He served at the military unit where his elder brother had served.

Upon the recommendation of the Prime Minister and by the decree of the President, Artur Muradyan has been posthumously awarded the Medal for Military Service for the service provided to the homeland.
