YEREVAN. – I officially declare that such discussions and assurances have not been and cannot be. Yervand Khundkaryan, a candidate for a judge of the Constitutional Court of Armenia—and who is nominated to this post by the General Assembly of Judges, noted this in a talk with journalists in the National Assembly Monday, referring to the reports that he has an arrangement with the authorities that he will become the president of the Constitutional Court and it was on this condition that he agreed to run for a candidate for a judge of this court.

"Look at how many processes a candidate has to go through: a secret ballot at the General Assembly of Judges, as a result of that voting—the election of X or Y person. In the second round, the candidate is introduced in the National Assembly where a secret ballot is held. And the president of the Constitutional Court is elected by the judges of the Constitutional Court. Look at how many stages there are and whether or not any arrangement can work under these conditions," Khundkaryan added.
