The officers of the Military Counterintelligence Department of the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia have exposed another case of high treason, the NSS informs NEWS.am.

It was found out that a contract serviceman of the military unit of the Ministry of Defense had met with a member of a foreign special service through social media in November 2021 and, being recruited by this person, had given the latter—through a mobile phone in the period from November 2021 to May 2022—information constituting state and service secrets about his military unit, for which he had received $US370—through bank transfers—from foreign special services, thereby committing high treason to the detriment of Armenia's territorial integrity and external security.

The aforementioned contract soldier was charged within the framework of the criminal proceedings launched at the NSS Investigative Department.

The court ruled that he be remanded in custody

The respective criminal investigation is in progress.
