This is also very important, about which, unfortunately, Yerevan is silent. The process of unblocking [regional] communications, which started by the leaders of the three countries in January 2021, has not yet been completed. Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), stated this at Wednesday’s press briefing.

"During these years, we have several times come close to adopting a package of mutually beneficial decisions that would enable both Armenia and Azerbaijan to use each other's road infrastructures. With that, huge progress would be made towards overall improvement of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations and stabilization of the situation in the entire South Caucasus. But this opportunity has been missed many times. (…). (…) something prevented Armenia’s leadership from finalizing the agreements on paper; and we know very well what prevented them: the ‘good’ advice of the Western "friends" of the current leadership of Armenia; in this case this word ‘advice’ should be put in quotation marks," said the official representative of the Russian MFA.

According to Zakharova, these "friends," "instead of contributing to the implementation of tripartite agreements and, accordingly, the reconciliation of Baku and Yerevan, they are torpedoing everything positive that was possible to achieve, they are torpedoing Russia's efforts, they are trying to force their ‘recipes’ to normalize Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, and propose false normalization instead of normalization."

"(…). As a result, Armenia, acting on the instructions of the US and the European Union, outside the framework of tripartite agreements, in our opinion, faces the danger of being cut off from the further configuration of regional communications,” the official representative of the Russian MFA concluded, in particular.
