We discussed security issues, the unstable situation in our region, in particular, Russia's aggressive actions against Ukraine, which leads to the flow of refugees to Poland and other European countries. Polish President Andrzej Duda stated this at a joint press briefing with Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan Tuesday in Yerevan.

In his assessment, the military operations in Ukraine have an impact on the South Caucasus as well. He said that Russia wants to carry out its dominant actions in the South Caucasus, too.

Duda assured that Poland wants all conflicts to end in peace.

"I asked the president of Armenia whether Armenia wants to see Poland's broader engagement in the settlement of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan. I talked about this also with the president of Azerbaijan, Aliyev, within the framework of [the] COP29 [climate conference in Azerbaijan]. We [i.e. Poland] want Armenians to live peacefully in their land, so that they have their own sovereign state in the Caucasus, with clearly defined borders," said the Polish president.

Duda emphasized that peace in the South Caucasus is very important for Europe as well.

"We stand ready to provide assistance in this matter," added the president of Poland.
