At the embassies of European Union countries, long queues have formed for our citizens to receive visas, and this causes great dissatisfaction, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated at the Cabinet meeting of the Armenian government Thursday.

"We are constantly working. I have several times given instructions to the MFA, the minister of foreign affairs, and our other colleagues to deal with this topic. I want to tell about a recent conversation I had on this topic, and we need to understand what the reason is for such a situation. The Armenia-European Union passenger flow has increased exponentially in the last five years.

The current flow that there is now from Armenia to EU countries, EU colleagues and officials tell me, is many times more than all possible predictions. That is, they predict that in a year or a month they would have had to solve the visa problem for 300 people, [but] now they are solving for 3000 people," said Pashinyan.

And turning to the question of what the cause is of this situation, Pashinyan said: "Why did people [in Armenia] start traveling to the EU so much? This is a sign of several things. No matter how much they criticize us, they consider it our most vulnerable place, first of all, this is the result of our reforms in the aviation sector that no matter how much we have made mistakes, fallen, had failures, but we have opened opportunities for our citizens. (…). Second, how can a person make such a decision to that extent? In what case does a person make such a decision? When he has money. That is, this means that this is also the result of a change in consumer mentality."
