This is a delusion of those gathered around [second President of Armenia] Robert Kocharyan. Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, told this to reporters Thursday, but he did comment on the reports that the processes around the Armenian Apostolic Church may be linked to Azerbaijan.

In his opinion, it is “practically proven” that Robert Kocharyan is corrupt, which is why “they are attempting to present others as corrupt as well.”

Simonyan added that when it comes to faith and the soul, it is necessary to talk about whether this or that phenomenon exists or not, and not about whether it was necessary to talk about it, or whether it was right to express it in this or that way.

“I don’t think there is any blasphemy there [i.e. in the post made on social media by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan—and regarding the Armenian Apostolic Church]. Everyone expresses themselves in their own way,” the speaker of the Armenian parliament noted.

According to him, there are many respected clergy in the Armenian Apostolic Church, and therefore it is necessary to distinguish the Armenian Apostolic Church from “some businessmen and violators of church rules.”

Also, Alen Simonyan expressed confidence that a hybrid war is being waged against the Armenian authorities, and added that this hybrid war will escalate.
