The year 2026 will be decisive for peace, because parliamentary elections will be held in June, and these elections essentially have a key question that must be answered, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated today during the debates on the draft law “On the State Budget of the Republic of Armenia for 2026” in the National Assembly.

“The people of the Republic of Armenia, through their choice, must uphold peace. This, in essence, is the key political meaning and goal of the upcoming elections, at least from the government’s perspective, but not only from the government’s perspective. I must emphasize that this is true from the perspective of the government, from a historical perspective, and from all, all other possible perspectives.

That is, the key issue or necessity of the 2026 parliamentary elections is as follows: the people of the Republic of Armenia, through their choice, must uphold peace. The opposite would roll Armenia back into conflict and the logic of an outpost.

I want to stress that by upholding peace, the people of Armenia will also uphold the newly established level of their independence, their sovereignty, their state,” Pashinyan declared.
