The threats are known. Vice speaker of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Ruben Rubinyan, told this to reporters at the NA Tuesday, as he commented on the fact that the European Union (EU) will provide Armenia with 15 million euros in assistance to counter hybrid warfare during elections in the country.

“Don’t you see that in Armenia’s domestic political arena there are manifestations that can be interpreted as attempts at interference. Or don’t you see that disinformation campaigns are taking place in our media space? Don’t you see, for example, that within two days some English-language websites open and write startling fake news? (...). The issue is not about whether this is worrying or not; we see a likelihood that there may be attempts at interference, and we are expanding our toolkit to prevent that interference,” added the Armenian NA vice speaker.

And asked whether Armenia’s law enforcement agencies can prevent this, Rubinyan replied: “They can. The European Union's law enforcement won't come to prevent [it], are they? Isn’t it clear that our law enforcement shall prevent [it]. This is about exchanging experience, methods.”
