Extremely interesting processes are underway, the old world order has collapsed, the new one is being formed. The most interesting thing is that the US itself is dismantling the world order that it itself formed, Armenia’s second president, Robert Kocharyan, told a press conference Thursday (PHOTOS).

“This is recorded in the new US security concept, which is a very interesting document. First, the US already accepts that the world is already multipolar, they accept that they are abandoning ideological hegemony. It is an interesting note that the main adversary today is China. The other note [is] that they [i.e. the US] are ready and see an opportunity to build constructive and pragmatic relations with Russia. The assessment of Europe was humiliating for Europeans, but it simply is the following that Europe is degrading. That word is not used, but that is what the whole description means,” Kocharyan added.

“Another interesting circumstance for us [i.e. Armenia] is that there is zero mention of the South Caucasus at all. This means that the US has no fundamental interests here, neither economic nor security,” he noted.

“On the other hand, the US president [i.e. Donald Trump] says that he is not interested in international law, he is restrained only by his morality and his perception of the world. His chief national security adviser, [Stephen] Miller, says, ‘We [i.e. the US] are a superpower, and we act as such.’ The next [thing is] that civility is now a thing of the past in international relations,” Kocharyan stated.

“Now how to combine these two circumstances that on the one hand, the world is multipolar, on the other hand, it is a policy of applying unilateral pressure? At first glance, it seems that a multipolar world implies that you should pay more attention to international laws, since there are adversaries who are comparable in their capabilities to you, and this can lead to serious problems. In this case, either there should be a big war, or the world should be divided into zones of influence. What is Trump doing? He is attempting to divide the world into zones of influence by way of controlled escalations,” he said.

“What should Armenia do? The world is much more dangerous, and Armenia should do everything possible to avoid ending up at the points of conflict of interests of superpowers. A skilled captain does not take his ship out to the ocean during a storm. This directly applies to Armenia. Armenia should not end up at the center of a conflict of interests under any circumstances,” Robert Kocharyan added.

Also, he noted what happens to countries that ignore this important circumstance.

“First, Georgia under [former president Mikheil] Saakashvili attempted to play on the disagreements between Russia and the US, got a war and territorial losses. [President Volodymyr] Zelenskyy’s Ukraine attempted to play on the most painful points of the clash of interests between NATO and Russia, got a terrible war and territorial losses. And Armenia under [PM Nikol] Pashinyan got into such games, got a war, losses—both human and territorial. We must try skillfully and do everything so that Armenia draws conclusions from these lessons,” the ex-president noted.
