YEREVAN. – Other political forces also joined rules of conduct proposed by ruling Republican Party of Armenia board member, Armenian MP Davit Harutyunyan, the MP told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Commenting on the question how exactly the proposed mechanisms and rules will help to conduct proper elections, Davit Harutyunyan said that the rules of conduct enable to use other mechanisms as well.

“We think mechanisms must not be limited. I think they can be successful. It is natural that the parties compete during elections, but we all have - at least I think we have - one aim and that is to hold proper elections,” Harutyunyan said.

Commenting on the notion that election bribes are being handed out, the MP stated that there are legislative measures against them, they need only to be used.

Eight political parties and one block have presented their nominations – Republican Party of Armenian, Prosperous Armenia Party, Orinats Yerkir, opposition Armenian National Congress, opposition Heritage Party, ARF Dashnaktsutyun, the Communist Party of Armenia, Democratic Party of Armenia and United Armenians Party.

For entering the National Assembly, parties must poll over 5% of votes, while blocks - over 7%.

The election campaign will be held till May 5 - the day prior to elections when campaigning is banned. The parliamentary elections will be held from 8 am to 8 pm on May 6, 2012.
