The Presidential Election Day in Turkey is formally approved.

The Turkish Supreme Electoral Council (YSK) decision on the date for holding presidential elections in the country was published in the official newspaper (Resmi Gazete) of the Turkish government.

Accordingly, YSK has decided that the first round of Turkey’s first-ever presidential election with the people’s participation will be conducted on August 10 of this year, and if need be, a presidential run-off will be held on August 24.

About 500,000 Turkish citizens living abroad likewise will participate in Turkey’s presidential election, and they will be able to cast their ballots between July 30 and August 3.

Heretofore, Turkey’s president was elected by the country’s parliament.
