The U.S. visa system will be fully restored in several weeks, State Department representative Marie Harf said.

“We are continuing to work to restore our visa system to full functionality. We anticipate it will take weeks to restore full visa processing capacity,” she said during the briefing on Thursday.

From the start of the operational issues on July 20th through July 28th, the United States issued more than 180,000 non-immigrant visas globally, Harf emphasized.

Earlier this week the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Consular Affairs informed about experiencing technical problems with our visa system.

“This issue is worldwide and is not specific to any particular country, citizenship document, or visa category. We are working urgently to correct the problem and expect our system to be fully operational again soon,” the statement said.
