YEREVAN. – EU will receive mandate for talks over new document with Armenia on October 12, Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“I do not think there will be any discussions a EU member support the initiative. This is continuation of arrangements and decisions reached during the Riga summit in May that was attended by the President of Armenia,” he said.

On Monday the decision will be discussed and adopted, the Minister said, adding that he does not expect surprise on the matter.

“I hope the talks will be finalized soon, and we will be able to sign an agreement,” Rinkevics added.

Armenia is to decide on integration issues and the countries to form a closer political and economic alliance with.

“We treat this as a completely free choice of Armenia. And I think that the agreement that will be concluded after the talks will be a legal act which will determine how much Armenia wants to develop relations with the European Union. It is in your hands,” he added.
