YEREVAN. – Armenia needs national unity in the fight against corruption, just as you are united in the Nagorno-Karabakh and the Armenian Genocide issues.

Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Piotr Świtalski, noted the aforesaid at Wednesday’s discussion with donor organizations, and along the lines of combating corruption in the country.

In his words, fighting corruption is of great importance for several reasons.

Świtalski stressed that he does not recall any public meeting, in the last ten months, where corruption in Armenia was not discussed.

He noted, however, that sometimes the country’s opposition figures accuse the EU of contributing to corruption, and they sometimes invite EU officials in provocative manner, to fight against the government, but he says “no” because EU wishes to combat corruption together with the Armenian government.
