YEREVAN. - The closed discussion on draft Electoral Code of Armenia, which was held at the Armenian National Assembly (NA), finished while ago. The discussion was also attended by Gagik Jhangiryan from the Armenian National Congress (ANC), who had earlier proposed to continue the discussions and make amendments outside the plenary session.

“I think these discussions are useful, since the Electoral Code is not only a political document, but also a legal one, and there are a number of issues which should be discussed,” Chairman of the Committee on State and Legal Affairs, Hovhannes Sahakyan, told Armenian News – NEWS.am.

He assured that during the second reading the amended version of the draft will be presented, however he declined to elaborate on this.  

“We are discussing it chapter by chapter and I can’t say beforehand what changes will be made: this will become known in case of the second reading,” the MP noted,

The working discussions on the Electoral Code will continue at 6:00 pm Wednesday.
