For years, there has been no development with respect to restoring the Armenian church in Akşehir town of Konya Province in Turkey, and this has jeopardized the very existence of this house of Christian worship.

The church, which was built by the Armenian community in the 19th century, was occasionally used as a place for holding cultural events, according to Akunq.

There are numerous writings on the church walls, its door and windows are broken, and the church building is completely in ruins.

What is more, a school has opened in the churchyard, and as a result, the church has turned into a meeting place for schoolgirls and schoolboys.

Although often promises were given that this historic church will be restored, no respective activities have yet been carried out.

The last time when a statement was made regarding this Armenian church was in 2014, according to which, the project for the restoration of this historical building had been approved.
