YEREVAN. - President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on Tuesday received renowned French scientist and winner of 2016 Award of the President of the Republic of Armenia in the Sphere of Information Technologies, Louis Pouzin, who is also the CEO of Open Root.

The President welcomed the scientist and his wife Chantal Lebrument, stressing that the Armenian President’s Award is the condensed gratitude and admiration of the Armenian nation for the people, who contribute to the progress of the world and thanks to whose talent the West prevailed technologically over the East only in 500 years. “This award has also got another objective: to draw the attention of our youth to the people and their deeds, which are successful, so that all this serves as a guideline for them. We want to prove them that through knowledge it is possible to become renowned, have a prosperous life and enjoy respect,” the President noted.

Louis Pouzin, for his part, noted that in his whole life he always enjoyed working and communicating with people, who are decisive in their steps. “I am sure that there are various people in Armenia, with whom it is possible to work and implement programs. My aim is to constantly keep in touch with them and perhaps develop new programs and carry out work through these ties,” he said.

After the meeting, a ceremony of special envelope cancellation dedicated to the winners of the Award of Armenian President in the Sphere of Information Technologies took place in the presidential palace.  The thematic envelope, which is a unique philatelic product, has two stamps on it issued in 2013 and entitled “Award of the President of the Republic of Armenia for global contribution in the area of informational technologies”

The special envelope, 500 items of which were published, was cancelled with a special seal. The envelope depicts the winner of 2016 Award of the Armenian President Louis Pouzin, as well as the former six laureates.  

On occasion of handing the award, the president’s palace will host a reception in honor of Louis Pouzin and Chantal Lebrument.
