It is already the second year South Korea has been a leader in the development of information and communication technologies (ICT). The top 10 of the list of 175 countries came to include also seven EU countries, China and Japan.

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) published a report with new data regarding the ICT development. According to the report, by the end of 2016, 95 percent of the world population was taken over by signals of mobile communication. Over 47 percent of the residents of the planet have already been connected to the Internet.

The ITU report notes that the difference between the CIS countries with highest and lowest indexes was the least as compared to all the regions of the world. Almost all the countries of post-Soviet territory appeared in the upper half of the global ranking.

Belarus is still on the lead in the list of the ICT development in the region. It comes 31st in the global ranking, having gone up by five positions as compared to last year.  Russia ranks 43rd, Kazakhstan—52nd, Azerbaijan—55th and Armenia—71st . Moldova came 68th, Georgia — 72nd and Ukraine —76th. Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan appeared on the 110th        and 113th positions respectively.
