YEREVAN. - Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan on Thursday received the delegation led by CEO of VimpelCom, Jan Eve Charles.

The interlocutors discussed a number of issues related to the development of the IT sector. Underscoring the importance of the continuous progress in the information and communication area in Armenia, the Premier noted that the Government is preparing a new package for its further development, the Government press-service informed Armenian News – NEWS.am.  

At the same time, Karapetyan noted that the Government is ready to discuss different initiatives and proposals with VimpelCom, aimed at the expansion of the company’s programs in Armenia.

Jan Eve Charles, for his part, noted that the company led by him has a long-term vision of activity in Armenia and is thus preparing large-scale investment programs. According to him, they will be aimed at the improvement of fixed and mobile communication and modernization of infrastructures.

The Premier welcomed the initiative, urging to submit to the Armenian Ministry of Transport, Communication and Informational Technologies proposals regarding the development of the area, as well as expectations from the Government.
