Upon the instruction of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, workers of the National Prevention Mechanism and Protection of Children’s Rights Departments paid a surprise visit to Gyumri’s Children's Care and Protection Boarding Institution No. 1.

During the visit, the Human Rights Defender’s workers held private talks with the children living in the boarding institution, getting familiarized with their living insurance conditions on the ground. 

The state of ensuring the children’s rights and treatment towards them was studied. Private talks were also held with the medical staff, legal advisor, social workers and psychologists of the institution.

A number of issues of key significance, including the preservation of children’s health, their education and occupation were discussed. Thorough study of relevant documents was carried out. In the framework of the visit, a meeting was also held with the administrative staff, during which a number of issues related to the children’s living conditions were discussed.
