A judge was detained during the trial of the case into the murder of Istanbul-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink, in Istanbul.

While one of the defendants, former Trabzon Police Intelligence Chief Ramazan Akyürek, was delivering remarks at the trial, police detained Judge Bünyamin Karakaş, reported Cumhuriyet daily of Turkey.

He was detained on charges of being a member of the Gülen movement, led by Turkish Islamic theologian and preacher Fethullah Gülen.

Gülen resides in the US since 1999, and Ankara accuses his “Fethullah Gülen Terrorist Organization (FETÖ)” of orchestrating the failed putsch in Turkey in July. And it has petitioned to the US for his extradition to Turkey.

Hrant Dink was the founder and chief editor of Agos Armenian bilingual weekly of Istanbul. He was gunned down on January 19, 2007 in front of then office of Agos.
