Visit of European MPs’ delegation to Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh organized by European Hay Dat office (Armenian Cause) is important, as previously European Parliament avoided sending delegations to NKR, Vahan Hovhannisyan, ARFD bureau member, told the briefing at the Armenian Parliament.

According to him, the MPs held a number of important meetings with Nagorno-Karabakh leadership, as well as representatives of civil society, in particular organizations protecting rights of refugees. “In the course of these meeting the MPs were told that Armenians moved to Azerbaijan from historically Armenian territories – Artsakh, Utik, territories reaching Kur river which are a part of historical Armenia. However, after pogroms of the Armenian population in Baku, Sumgait and other Azerbaijani cities they returned to their historical lands that Azerbaijani call “occupied”, he said. By organizing such meetings the ARFD wants involvement of the Armenian refugees in international humanitarian programs, Hovhannisyan concluded.
