YEREVAN. - Chairman of Consolidation Party, Vartan Oskanian, and former Defense Minister of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan had a meeting on Wednesday, during which they referred to the statement of Gagik Tsarukyan, the statement disseminated by Consolidation Party says.

According to it, the interlocutors discussed a number of issues related to the upcoming parliamentary elections, including the format of joint activity. They both agreed that it is necessary to form as large coalition as possible. It is also noted that such meetings will be held regularly.

''The coalition of Consolidation Party, Third Republic Party and Democratic Party of Armenia will definitely expand. Not only political forces but also non-governmental organizations, civil initiatives and persons active in public matters will be included in it. The goal is one: to form an alternative pole and appear before the public with new ideas, new programs and motto of changes,'' the statement reads.

Furthermore, according to the statement, the lawyers of Consolidation Party have presented substantiations on that fixing the day of the upcoming National Assembly elections on April 2 contradicts the Constitution. ''We are sure that this anti-constitutional decision should become a topic of public and political discussion,'' it reads.

Consolidation Party welcomed Gagik Tsarukyan's statement, according to which the latter will take part in the electoral processes in the framework of a coalition.
