Turkey sent to the Netherlands a diplomatic note which affirms that the country violated the Vienna convention on diplomatic and consular relations, as well as urges to take measures in connection with the unlawful actions of the police against the citizens of Turkey, Reuters reported quoting sources in the country's Foreign Ministry.

According to the sources, the Turkish Foreign Ministry summoned the Netherlands' charge d'affaires in Ankara. Turkey's diplomatic note also states that the police intervention in peaceful demonstrations was disproportionate, and Turkey demands to provide information about the affected citizens of Turkey. It also includes an appeal to legal measures against police of the Netherlands, RIA Novosti reported.

The Dutch authorities banned holding of a rally supporting changes in Turkey’s constitution, prevented the landing of Turkey’s foreign minister and detained of Turkey’s family affairs minister Fatma Betul Sayan Kaya close to the consulate in Rotterdam.
