The administration of the US President Donald Trump is considering to expanded sanctions to exclude the North Korea from the global financial system, reports Voice of America, referring to a senior US official. Such an option is being considered to counter the threat of Pyongyang’s nuclear and missile activities within the framework of a broader revision.

The new approach envisages penalties especially on the Chinese banks and companies that actively conduct business with North Korea aimed at increasing economic and diplomatic pressure, the administration informed. According to the source, another approach is to strengthen the defense of the United States’ allies South Korea and Japan.
