Europe should not tie tensions, that it has with  political elite of Turkey, with the interests of ordinary citizens, Turkish Nobel Prize-winning author Orhan Pamuk told Süddeutsche Zeitung.

As Diken noted, Pamuk drew Europe's attention to the pressures exerted on Turkish journalists, artists and scientists who are oriented toward the western values.

The writer stressed that the internal circle of the Turkish ruling party considers itself estranged after the last Turkish-European processes.
